Here
are some tutorial programs that you may find useful in your language
learning. Some of these are freeware and some are shareware. If
you find any of these shareware programs useful, please patronize
the authors for their hard work! All of these programs are compressed,
or “zipped,” so if you don’t already have Winzip,
get it now!
Microtac
Foreign Language Assistant (42k). This is a really nice little
dos program that allows you to scroll through, and learn, hundreds
of verbs. When a verb is highlighted, you can view its English
translation, as well as 14 tenses in all six persons. A great
little tool! French.
Ultimate
Language Tutor (Windows95) (547k). A really nice tutorial
that allows for self-testing in nouns, verbs and conjugations,
and gives the student different format choices like multiple choice
or fill in the blank. Shareware. French, Spanish, Italian, German.
Vocabulary
(467k). A neat (but unnamed???) dos program that tests the
student’s translation abilities between his or her choice of any
two languages at a time. Shareware version has “only” 1000 examples
in each category, registered version has 10,000 examples! French,
Spanish, German, Italian.
Flashworks
(199k). A sort of electronic flash card program. It has a
library of over 2,000 words (each) in each language. Appears to
be freeware. French, Spanish, German, Greek.
French
Plus (188k). A nice dos French tutorial that quizzes a student
on all parts of the language. It’s actually pretty fun! Shareware.
French.
French
Verbs (21k). A dos verb game that offers the student a word
and then challenges him to fill in the translation. French.

Verb Conjugator (924k) . Another program that displays all
the different conjugations for a number of French verbs. The registered
